Using the Samyang AF 14mm 2.8 F for the first time;
First, the unboxing. This lens felt like it is made with care and class. I have small hands (I am only 5”2), but the lens felt nice to hold in my hand; didn't feel heavy or bulky. I do like to look at things (well of course, I am a photographer after all) and I like the fact the black coloured casing on the lens matched the black on my Nikon camera, and I liked that the red line around the rime of the lens as this also matched the red on my camera body; making the overall camera look fantastic and not mismatched.

When I first started traveling I was like most people. I would think about flying out somewhere; a holiday with white sandy beaches and a waiter to help me with my every need.
But little thought would go into the actual details of the flight; past wondering if I should have the on-board meal or not. However, this relaxed carefree approach came to a end during a 19 hour, 1 stop over flight, on a trip from London to South East Asia. After 10 hours in the air with no sleep, and a stop over that if we would have brought a cup of coffee it would cost us £10 each (as we didn't have any Chinese Yang), and no way of being comfortable. With 10 more planes planed during that tour, I soon realised we needed to plan flying better. I no longer looked a the person sleeping in the three sits as "lucky". I needed to be that person who got the three sits; while some people may have the luxury of flying First Class. I didn't, so I needed to get creative to ensure I would have a comfortable in or out bound journey. Recently I got the chance to beta test the Nikon fit AF 14mm 2.8 F by Samyang optics. The Samyang 14mm 2.8 F is the first autofocus lens to be compatible with a full frame Nikon range. That's right Landscape and astrophotography pixel peepers. We now have a high resolution 14mm 2.8, at the fraction of the cost. Thanks to Samyang Optics!
But why is it so good? Let’s break down some of the leading points to the spec of this lens. ![]() Great, so your friend or love one is into Photography, and now you want to select a good gift for them. But, as you start looking around at photography products, things become clear that you might need a PHD in photography to understand what gifts do what things. So I thought I would help you in selecting the best gifts for a Photographer. and we have put together a list of the Top Ten Gifts for both Amateur and Professional photographers alike. Now, when selecting a gift for a photographer it can become stressful because we need to bear mind that all photographers are not the same, for a start we have the problem of what camera do they use? As there are many different make’s & models of camera's out there in the world. Then the problem of needing to know what lenses they have purchased already? As there are a wide range of lenses to choose from. Then we have the problem of what type of photography they are into? As Sports, Wildlife or Landscape photography all need a different approach and equipment to achieve the perfect shot. We will also need to consider what level of photography they are at? As amateur and professionals need different things, lets say you wanted to buy a camera, a professional needs strong lightweight cases to carry around their kit, while a amateur would needs a good back pack that can distribute the weight evenly helping to lighten the load of a kit that the photographer will be carrying around all day. So with all these variables to consider, I thought that I would keep it fun and best suited to all photographer’s needs while helping you to enjoy your experience of shopping for a photographer. However, for some of our gifts you may need to ask s/he what camera they are using before purchasing a product, but as most photographer's love to talk about photography so gaining this information should be easy without blowing your cover that you are getting them a great photography based present. However, if you cannot find out this information then we still have load's of gift ideas for you to choose from! We have tried to keep cost's down for you by finding the best good quality priced products available online. We have also include links on the side for you to take a look at, we are not saying to buy that product but we are saying that to go cheaper in price will make the product quality drop down. So, you are interested in travelling and you want becoming a backpacker? You want a taste of this life. And, you can have it too. But, I know that thought process; because I have been in your shoes before. You start by dreaming of a topical island. You see palm trees and white sand. You see paradise. You hear the sound of the waves breaking and you feel the heat of the sun. You see a cocktail on a table next to a sunbed. You see a kindle and you get that feeling of peace.
You log onto your favourite social media site and you see some friends have posted photos of them sunning it on a beach in Ibiza; but that just doesn’t cut it for you anymore. You are tired of the week long party or the two week trip to Florida with the family.
You want more. You work hard and you need a longer break. You need a life changing experience that last for so long that you do not want to have to count down the days left of your holiday on the first day you arrive. And, you want to see more of a country than your all inclusive packages offers you. Well if you want the freedom to roam and enough time to get lost a backpacking adventure may be for you. |
